Christmas in Coalville

On Saturday 27th November, Hermitage FM hosted the main stage at one of Coalville's biggest events of the year, switching on the Christmas lights.

A stream train complete with real snow gave Coalville town centre's Christmas lights switch on a Lapland feel on Saturday. About 5,000 people packed into the town for a whole day of festive fun, including street entertainment, Santa's Grotto and an open-air Christmas market held near the clock tower. Last year's X-Factor finalists Miss Frank and other acts performed to the crowd before switching on the lights at 5pm along with fireworks from Coalville Park on London Road. District councillor Matthew Blain said: "Three years ago we put up new lights around the town and Christmas in Coalville has been transformed. "It was a really magical day, enhanced by the fact we had real snow".

Well-done to the district council holding the event once again. Look out for Hermitage FM next week as we also turn the lights on in Ashby de la Zouch.
